If you’re looking specialty, one of a kind items, hand produced in limited runs... with the seduction of pattern... the opulence of cloth... the sensuality of colour ... all combined with an artisan approach to design, Fitzroy is your textile hub.

Fitzroy is the home of suppliers and importers from the sublime to the frankly odd, who combine to pull together the threads of fabrics, haberdashery, found objects, silk, hand dyed knitting yarn, cashmere, alpaca, organic cotton and bamboo, Japanese cotton shirtings, silk chiffons and georgettes, woolen suitings and coatings, linens, satins, New Zealand merino knits, leather hides, eco and organic fabrics, vintage fabrics and odds-and-sods. Designers from beginners to international icons produce hundreds of new products showcase a wide variety of traditional and contemporary textile art techniques in hidden boutiques and back-street flats.

Hand made wearable art pieces, swatches, textile lengths, pattern blocks, toiles and top quality designer dress fabrics can be found on our regular textile walking tours and through our sponsors and advertisers. You’ll also find specialist books, periodicals and exhibition catalogues relating to art, craft, design and culture, including drawings, notebooks, photographs, scrapbooks, posters, teaching manuals, magazines, clothing and digital media.
